Students learn to love their hearts

Thanks to a Heart Research UK and SUBWAY® Healthy Heart Grant, two groups of local people are learning to look after their hearts by eating a healthy diet.

Each week they bring fresh ingredients and learn to cook delicious, vibrant but easy dishes packed with goodness and flavour. Their goal is to improve their health by switching to a diet rich in fresh ingredients and low in processed foods. They prepare dishes that are appetising and satisfying but low in fat, salt and sugar.

They are also finding out about other local services and opportunities to improve health through exercise, such as local Health Walks, dancing classes, yoga and T’ai Chi.

NHS Health Trainers have attended to carry out Health MOTs on those who qualify, a service provided by Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust Healthy Weight Team.
