French Fougasse Bread

Fougasse is Provencal flat bread made with dough enriched with oil, herbs, olives or other strong tasting ingredients.  It is either baked as flat round or oval beads or more often as a spade or leaf shape, and or also to resemble an ear of wheat, with bold cuts all the way through making a “holey” flatbread.  Like pizza in Italy, fougasse was traditionally used to assess the temperature of a wood fired oven, so it is generally baked on the deck of the the oven.

This morning we will learn to make this fabulous bread. Join us for a fun and informative morning and take home a new skill and some delicious bread. Pieter will also demonstrate quick and impressive recipes while our bread proves and bakes, including salsa verde and how to preserve lemons.

Please arrive by 9.50am and wear comfortable shoes.
