Social Enterprise

You might not know it, but Chequers Kitchen in Deal, Kent, is a social enterprise. As a Community Interest Company we have a social mission – to teach local people from Dover, Deal and Sandwich to cook with fresh ingredients, on a tight budget, so they can access a healthy diet.

We don’t want anyone to miss out just because they can’t afford to pay for a class. So our Keen2Cook classes are subsidised by grant funders and by Chequers Kitchen to make them accessible for everyone who relies on ready meals and takeaways but wants to switch to a healthy, home-cooked diet.

We also have the kind support of private donors and local business sponsors.  In November 2014 we were delighted to be winners of Looking to Cook’s Best community focused cookery school of 2014. We were recently featured on ITV Meridian. If you have any questions or wish to find out more about our social enterprise, please feel free to contact us.

Current and past grant funders include The Big Lottery, Kent Community Foundation, Dover Port Community Fund, Dover Town Council, BUPA Foundation, Heart Research UK with Subway, Kent & Canterbury CCG Community Fund, Kent County Council, RAISE Challenge Fund, European Social Fund, Skills Funding Agency, EKCCO Micro-grants Fund.
